# Sharing roles

Roles on a shared resource are separate from org roles (Admin / Manager / Member). You set them in the agent's **Access** tab, or in the **Share** dialog for other resources.

## Agents: Owner or User

An agent has two roles. There is no editor or viewer any more.

| Capability | Owner | User |
| - | - | - |
| Start tasks with the agent | Yes | Yes |
| See instructions, model, connectors, skills | Yes | Only what the Owners chose to show |
| Edit the agent | Yes | No |
| Manage access | Yes | No |
| Manage triggers | Every trigger | Their own, if allowed |
| See other people's tasks | Yes | On a team agent, if Task Visibility is set to **Team tasks** |
| Make a copy | Yes | If allowed |
| Delete the agent | Yes | No |

What a User sees and whether they can copy the agent is controlled by the switches in **Access → User Permissions**. See [What can a User see on my agent?](/help/sharing/what-can-a-user-see).

## How to assign a role

1. Open the agent and go to the **Access** tab.
2. **Add owner** or **Add user** with their email, or set **General Access** so the whole team or organization gets User access.
3. To change someone later, click their role and pick **Promote to Owner** or **Demote to User**.

<Tip>
  For a company-wide agent that people should only talk to, set General Access to **Organization** and hide the parts of the setup you do not want exposed.
</Tip>

## Other resources

Skills still use the generic roles: **Owner**, **Editor**, **Viewer**, and **Use Only**. Shared tasks grant **Viewer** access. See [Sharing a skill](/core-concepts/skills#sharing-skills).
