# Request Owner Access

If you are a **User** on an agent and need to change it, ask an Owner for Owner access from inside the agent.

1. Open the agent.
2. Click the **⋮** menu next to its name.
3. Choose **Request Owner access**.
4. Pick which Owner should get the request and click **Send request**.

The menu item only appears if you are a User — Owners already have full access. Once sent, it reads *Owner access requested* so you do not send it twice.

Owner access lets you edit the agent, manage access, and review all tasks and their task-linked artifacts. It does not automatically grant access to another person's private persistent workspace files.

## What the Owner sees

The request lands in their inbox (and in Slack, if they have Slack connected), where they can **Approve**, **Reject**, or **Dismiss** it. You get access the moment they approve.

  <Accordion title="I do not see Request Owner access">
    You are already an Owner, or you reached the agent through an org admin override rather than as a User. Admins see [Claim Ownership](/help/sharing/claim-an-ownerless-agent) instead.

  <Accordion title="Nobody is responding">
    Ask a different Owner, or ask an org admin — they can add you as an Owner directly from the agent's Access tab.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I only need to see the instructions, not edit them">
    Ask an Owner to turn on the relevant [User Permission](/help/sharing/what-can-a-user-see) instead. That is a smaller change than making you an Owner.
