# Decisions

> Ask decision models structured questions about a state.

```bash theme={"dark"}
gumloop decisions create --args-file decision.json --json
cat decision.json | gumloop decisions create --args - --json
```

The request uses the SDK's `model`, `state`, and `questions` fields. Supply a callable decision model ID supported by your deployment. Use the [decisions API reference](https://docs.gumloop.com/api-reference/models/create-decision.md) for question and answer schemas.

Choose one of `--args-file`, `--args-json`, or `--args -`. Human output shows the selected model and named answers; `--json` retains the full response, including usage. These calls use OAuth or a personal API key and can consume credits.

A chat completion does not implement the decisions state-and-questions contract. The Python equivalent is `client.decisions.create(request)`, or `await client.decisions.create(request)` with `AsyncGumloop`.
